The WA 3rd district is very rural- fishermen, loggers, no big cities, service sector jobs, no tech jobs, low numbers of college graduates. So it's understandable that it's pretty conservative there. What I don't get is where she think the leverage comes from to demand change if not via legislation.

I haven't watched it since when it went to DVD. I recall it's a fairly broad comedy, but my memory is pretty hazy on it. Gene Hackman is a pretty good foil as I remember.
My guess is it is problematic if you judge by the standards of today, as older films can be, but that doesn't mean it's bad.
