I’m sad for what could have been, first and foremost for the Scholars, many of whom are being kneecapped at critical points in their careers, and for my team, all of whom remain devoted to implementing our vision as best we can before funding is terminated.

I’m still collecting my thoughts for a more fulsome post on LinkedIn but my immediate reaction is mourning and numbness. Nothing prepares you for a sterile email informing you that your grant “no longer meets agency priorities” 8 months into a 5-year award.
