1 in 10 women have experienced stalking, sexual assault or relationship abuse in the past year alone, according to the ONS. The government has set itself the mission of halving that figure in a decade. To do so, we have to make sure women’s voices are heard. (1/2)

This afternoon in Reading Minster we remembered all those we have lost to transphobia this year, at a memorial put together by @readingprideuk.bsky.social for the Transgender Day of Remembrance, which was earlier this week. (1/4)

Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we remember all those who we have lost to transphobia.

Trans young people are the most at risk of suicide and violent crime. Shamefully, hate crimes against trans people hit a record high in 2023, and we've continued to see hate spread since then. (1/2)

We in Reading are proud of the many immigrant diasporas who have enriched our town’s economy and culture. Many immigrant families in Reading, such as Hong Kong BNO citizens, have asked me about the government’s future plans concerning indefinite leave to remain.

Today, we join in silence to honour those who sacrificed everything for our country and our rights. We must never take the freedoms that we enjoy today for granted.

Happy Bonfire Night! I hope you're all enjoying some toasted marshmallows and maybe some fireworks.

As a former dog owner, I always worried about loud noises at night, and many of my constituents do too, so please be considerate and remember to finish your fireworks by midnight!

I asked George Osborne this morning why the Conservative coalition cut Sure Start centres that young families depended on. He said there was a “feeling” at the time that they weren’t cost-effective. Many families across the country would’ve “felt” differently. (1/3)

It's been 75 years since we rebuilt the House of Commons chamber after it was destroyed in the Second World War. Yesterday I joined the Speaker of the House along with the rest of my colleagues in Parliament to mark the occasion. (1/2)

Solidarity with all Sheffield Wednesday fans, who, like Reading fans, have had to put up with bad management. I hope that Wednesday going into administration will be the first step in making sure that it has a sound long-term future. (1/2)

“Let down by the system and constantly feeling tired of fighting a never-ending battle.”

That’s how, one of my constituents, Megan, described her experience of the SEND system to me. Last month I held a consultation on SEND, which was attended by over 60 parents, children and practitioners.

Too many residents in our constituency are paying high property management fees. I led a meeting in Parliament questioning Jonathan Smith, the CEO of Trinity Property Group, which manages Shinfield Gardens and Shinfield Meadows in our constituency.

Reading will receive over £1 million to help end homelessness and rough sleeping.

As we head into the winter months, this money will make a huge difference for people who would otherwise be left out in the cold.
Labour announced an £84 million cash injection to prevent homelessness and support homeless families over the winter on World Homeless Day.

Two years on from October 7, as we mark the worst attack on Jewish people since the Holocaust, I would recommend reading this piece by Sharone Lifschitz, whose parents were taken as hostages on that awful day.
