the strength of the jpn adaptation is the drama & tension, which is a vast improvement over the manhwa when i read it years ago. some people will not like that and it’s fine! but i think the jpn adaptation was able to follow through on the story’s actual strengths & premise compared to the krn

wataru is more moody, stoic, and even more red-flaggy than jihyuk at times. but he felt much more realized & consequential as a character. and in a shorter runtime, you cannot do some nonsense like an evil ex or whatever.

wataru was a more active player in misa’s revenge/do-over than jihyuk was in jiwon’s, which might piss some people off. but i think this is an improvement as jihyuk has always felt like a nothing character in the manhwa imo (he even has a whole arc abt feeling useless)

and regards to the reina/sumin comparisons…i just think they’re vastly different. reina is much more sociopathic and also an actual villain, whereas sumin felt like just an annoyance after a point

things will never perfectly go to plan and i thought that it was a very good decision for the finale to be as chaotic as it was. it brought back the real stakes of the story—something that felt missing when i got to the middle of episode 8 & not long after the revenge wrapped up in the manhwa
