I actually called them out on Twitter for their nonsense disclaimer on the new site. Watch them block me. It's 2025 and a fan shouldn't be putting out more accurate material than the source. They should be paying translators. So frustrating

Because the issue of lighting is coming up again with regard to the first film, here's some helpful behind-the-scenes talk about it from the Mechanic & World book I translated. I think people forget you can't see in a blackout. Throw in smoke/dust, and that amplifies things.

Yeah, over-reliance on streaming really screwed the pooch all around. It just makes it even more painful when you look at what ISN'T available on streaming, and physical copies are jacked up to ridiculous prices, forcing people to go sailing.

I hate to continuously sound negative, but they're trying to prop up the live-action film as this big huge blockbuster successful endeavor to get people interested but they can't even establish the most basic of bases for it. I feel like it's a simul splurging/being conservative.

Bandai is being aggressive and simultaneously fumbling the ball right now with Gundam. Ogata just made more comments about the live-action film and all their lofty goals and whatnot, but they're faint echoes of what has been said for nearly a decade now, and I can only see it crashing hard.

I can't even begin to imagine how they accurately track anything when it's such a fragmented offering, not to mention the same titles trotted out again and again. And when I look at how long I've done manga/novel work relatively unscathed for two and a half decades, I scratch my head even more.

If I ever attended a con and Producer Ogata was there, I'd probably get thrown out for heckling him or fighting for the mic to as him a question (blunt as it may be). It really bugs me that for a decade he keeps saying they don't know, they don't know, but don't ask or make a PROPER effort.

Then there is the hilarious blurb at the bottom that says "don't steal our images," but "we also can't be bothered to translate anything on here and use MTL, so suck it up and deal with awkward phrasing."

Official Gundam seriously cannot catch a god damn break. 🤬

There's no staff, no original broadcast details, and no explanation of the difference between movies/series of the same title. It all seems rushed as usual for them. How hard would it of been to just reuse the old GundamOfficial information?

I mean, you're promoting your new website on a bus in NYC right now, and it's a chaotic mess. The series page is a ridiculous turn-off because it just dumps EVERYTHING at you with no sense of order.

As the months tick by, Bandai's continued failure to figure out how to market/crack the English fandom only continues to worsen, and that has become even more glaring with the disastrous new website. Either they're just "launching as is" and going back and fixing, or they really just don't care.

Another thing I don't understand about Bandai's P-Bandai offering is why they offer JPN acrylics of the logos but they don't do the same for the English? If they actually designed better English logo versions, I think they'd be a neat alternative, but most of those are, sadly, kinda cringe 😬 why 😭
