The RA Summer Exhibition is great fun!

Evening Standard gives it just *** & wonders where art is going.

Jonathan Jones from the Guardian gives it **** due to the big names: Emin, Sherman, Parker, Scully.

I think it’s just art reflecting life in all its glory & whatever the opposite of glory is.

The Pentagon has marked 26,000 photos for deletion to purge evidence of diversity.

The photos include the 1st black pilots in WWII, the 1st women to pass infantry training & the plane that dropped the Hiroshima bomb because it’s called the “Enola GAY”.

This is real. We’re living in a horror story.

Magical Thinking by Grayson Perry | Zimmer Stewart
Grayson Perry is a Turner-Prize-winning artist and national treasure, known for intricate narrative artworks that consider the biggest issues in modern society. For this silkscreen print launched in support of the Contemporary Art Society Grayson Perry chose the subject of magic.Magical Thinking began when Grayson encountered a painting by Cornelis de Vos at the Wallace Collection in London. In a graphic composition inspired by traditional Russian lubki, he surrounds his own version of de Vos’ unidentified subject with a constellation of words and symbols. The work’s title references the layer of mystical subjectivity through which we each engage with reality.Grayson worked closely with printmakers at Make-Ready in London to bring his vision to life. The result is a tactile silkscreen on bespoke textured paper with intentional irregularities – an homage to traditions from centuries ago, and a celebration of modern silkscreen printing.Details: A 7 colour silkscreen on bespoke 410gsm Somerset Tub Sized Radiant White Rough Textured M-R 100% cotton paper.Number 423 our of the edition of 1163Signed by the artist. Individually numbered with a certificate of authenticity.Unframed: 68cm (H) × 54.4cm (W)

How can two main routes to Heathrow be down on one of the busiest flying days of the year!!! Madness.
I agree my relatives left London for Heathrow on 28 Dec. Use the Elizabeth line I proudly told them, only to find out that the service did not go all the way that day. Ok so get off at Paddington and use the Express, but no this was down for engineering works. So had to head for Piccadilly line!
This week I went to see Jeff Wall’s ‘Life in Pictures’ @whitecube-official.bsky.social in Bermondsey.

Representing 30 years of collaboration with White Cube
There are over 40 works documenting Wall’s artistic development and pioneering career.

Runs to 12 January 2025.
