Just looking at a thread of Chinese fursuits I am so proud of my people’s advancement in fursuit crafting and furry culture . I have a bit of nationalistic pride over this <—- (hasn’t been back since 2013 and forgot almost all Chinese)

For some people drawing is just a means to an end (to tell a story)…. Perhaps this is why I’ve never really cared to work nonstop on an original story, I like to make lines come together but I don’t care too much about anything else. So maybe I need to work with more writers!

I really like making lines and feeling the satisfaction of making good lines and to see a depiction of a thing, a picture that I made that’s well drawn… so I thought “well why become an illustrator if you don’t like drawing” I almost thought ppl became artists only because of a drawing obsession..

Recently talked to a few ppl (pro artists and students) who said they don’t really like drawing/they like other aspects of the art process better and it blew my mind… and then I thought about it and I realized yea, drawing is like nail biting for me, it’s an obsessive thing that I do compulsively..

Honestly the labor of putting all these sheets together and figuring it out and configuring how well it cuts (it makes a bunch of mistakes) is a LOT

Thank you :-) the only reason Im making these at home is because I borrowed my friends machine (these things are like $200-$300 but I saw small ones for sale for less than $100) 😭 after making a lot, I feel for ppl just starting out it makes more sense to just get them printed/shipped to you because

After 50 hours I finally got my awful printer AND the cricut machine my friend lent me to work on holographic stickers. This was way harder than it needed to be but I AM IN BUSINESS

Yea I actually almost never used Illustrator and only recently learned Designer & Publisher after having the whole suite on my PC/iPad for so long! They’re excellent, IMO Photo still has a bit to go but the other two were very straightforward… I hope that whatever happens, ppl can still get them

Their whole suite has been amazing to use on the iPad and I use Designer and Publisher on a regular basis on the computer now… but if they go subscription based I will be so mad (I think ppl are worried because they were bought out by Canva a while ago)

Anyone else worried about the Affinity Suite “Oct 30th” thing

For those who aren’t sure they took down everything + their forums and are promoting the next step in their brand in a few weeks (you can now download their entire suite for $0 on the iPad)…. I just really hope it’s not subscription/AI

From Wiki: Nabis, tyrant of Sparta, reportedly created the device in the image of his own wife, Apega (Ancient Greek: Ἀπήγα; also known as Ἀγαπήνα or Ἀπία), a tyrant herself who helped in furthering her husband's ambitions. The Greek historian Polybius (203–120 BC, author of The Histories) further described the real Queen Apega as a female ruler who ruled Sparta like a Hellenistic queen, similar to Cleopatra and Arsinoe, because she "received men at court alongside her husband." Polybius also mentioned that she was a woman who knew how to dishonor men by humiliating women belonging to the families of male citizens. Both Nabis and Apega brought suffering and violence to their subjects by stealing their wealth and valuables.[3]

The historical Apega was described as a Spartan woman who had exceeded her husband's viciousness and wielded power to satisfy her own greed.[3] The Iron Apega was further described as the personification of the evil and deceitfulness of the real Apega and was said to be equal to Pandora, the first woman in Greek mythology.[3]

Just learned about the "Apega of Nabis," a torture device (similar to an iron maiden) invented by Spartan king Nabis that was fashioned to look like his wife. It had outstretched arms covered with iron nails that would crush its victims. I don't wanna call this iconic power couple behavior but omg.

He was captured by the French and sentenced to death before being pardoned…… and in the movie the character he plays is just based on his own experiences……
