Wonder what those suspicious red stains are. Surely they couldn't be purposeful.

A water stained journal page with suspicious amounts of red staining over the top and bottom left corners. The ingredient list has little hearts as bullet points.

the journal page says

"For a small batch of Knockout Oil, you’re going to need time and a few containers. You cannot work on this under direct sunlight. It’s best to do so at night or when it’s so foggy that light cannot get through. Please make sure you keep a few of my black out bottles to store it in so the oil won’t bleach and be useless.

Do keep in mind that this one is different than the one I usually
make, as it's one that can be made in days rather than months. As such, it will not keep for years as you may be used to.

This recipe is specifically for the jar with the blue around the rim.

Ingredients:
10 Full Noxi Daisy Heads
Vinegar
Vanishwood Sap
4 Handfuls of Mourning Pine Needles
1 Big Handful of Mourning Pine Inner Bark
DO NOT USE THE OUTER BARK, I DO NOT CARE IF IT
SEEMS EASIER! Dory I mean it!!!
And An Edible Oil of Your Choice

Pluck the petals from the Noxi Daisy heads, and rinse them under clean water. Pluck and rinse the Mourning Pine Needles as well.

Put the bark, petals, needles, in the jar, and then fill it with Equal
Parts Vinegar and Vanishwood sap. Close the jar and make sure it seals well, then stick it in a dark space for at least two days. The petals are to stay in there until they turn DARK purple. If they’re light purple or blue then they haven’t been sitting long enough.

The Bark should be grey. The tips of the needles should be paler.

Once everything is the correct color then strain the clumps out. Do not dump the vinegar into poor Rhonda’s sink. Dory I mean it. Pay attention and make sure you strain the vinegar into a separate container.

You can keep the needles and petals for me, I’d be able to find
another use for them when I come back to you. You will need the bark. Put it on a try and throw it into the oven on low to help get the moisture out if it

Mix equal parts PURPLE vinegar with your oil of choice. Keep it on the stove on low heat, and make sure a window is open so the fumes don’t get to you. Do not turn up the heat, it won’t make it infuse faster, and will likely ruin the oil.

While the oil is simmering, shred the Mourning Pine Bark as thinly as you can. You'll have to add it to the oil and vinegar mixture once it turns a cloudy blue. Do not worry when the mixture turns pink, that's to be expected. It will get darker as it infuses.

Stir every hour if you can, to make sure things are coming together.

Once the oil has a shimmer to it and the purple color is even then you strain it. Let cool and settle for at least a day.

Transfer to blackout bottles and store in a cool dry place.

"You don't get it! I have to go back for them! If you're not going to HELP then I think you should just-!"

"Dory! Hey now... I know this is an emotional moment for you... You feel guilty for leaving them behind. I know you try to drive people away then it's too much for you, but I'm not going to let you do that."

John Dory's hair smooths out on one side as Tern cups his cheek.

"I'm sorry... I know, I'm sorry Tern."

Tern pulls JD into a hug, as John Dory's shoulders start shaking.

"Oh my Dory... I won't let you drive me away, we'll come back later. Will lay together until you can keep your head clear... and then we'll grab all of your dead loved ones merchandise... we'll bring everything we can carry."

"Cry all you want, my pet. There's no one here but us."

The door to Rhonda slams, and John Dory sits on a couch and puts his face in his hands.

"no... no... not this one either." a blue hand goes over several jars. "Aha! Here it is!"

"I've got something that will help you sleep... you shouldn't have any dreams at all. Will wake up well rested..."

"Oh my Dory... will you open your mouth and let me give this to you?
Do you trust me enough?" John Dory wipes tears from his face and then opens his mouth. Sticks his tongue out so Tern can drop something on his tongue.

"Oh my love... let's get you all comfortable now. Just a bit of
readjusting, don't worry. Wouldn't want you to wake up
sore in a variety of places now would we?"

"Come on now... it's no trouble to allow you to rest your head on my lap"

"it's okay... just settle down my sweet. I know... I know, it's been a hard day, hasn't it?"

John Dory rests his head on Tern's lap, and the man strokes over his hair while he closes his eyes and tries to relax.

"You're being such a good boy for me, letting me take control of things when you're on the fritz like this."

"Poor thing, your brain must be too fried to make any logical decisions"

Tern's inner thoughts, on a dark background, "I've never been this attached to someone before."
