I grew up a conservative seventh Day Adventist and left the church in my 20s so I can understand. It's good that people can grow and change, and I hope that's what's happened with Platner too. But there's a chance that he hasn't and votes in the Senate are too close to take that chance on him.

People should definitely be allowed (and encouraged) to change and that's a good thing. But for someone with no political record and that type of past, maybe they should start in a smaller office than the US Senate to prove that they really have changed.
