Sorting through the mushroom photos I took last autumn in Vosges Mountains, I am struck again by their astonishing diversity. The clouded agaric (Clitocybe nebularis) emerged from the needle litter, pale and ghostlike, perfectly attuned to the quiet strangeness of the place

We need more of these kinds of studies.
A better grip on these fundamentals of AM fungal biology & ecology is needed if we hope to actually use AM fungi either as predictive signals or in land-management etc.
