Van Gogh of the day: Wheatfield with Sheaves, Arles 1888. You can find this painting at the Honolulu Museum of Art courtesy of the descendants of Hawaiian-born art collector Anna Rice Cooke. Fun fact, this piece was included in the immersive van Gogh experience that first introduced me to van Gogh!

Van Gogh of the day: The Gardener, 1889. Saw this gem in Rome at the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte. During World War II, this painting was hidden on a farm to prevent it from being looted by the Germans. The real life gardener worked at the asylum in Saint Remy where Vincent was institutionalized.

Van Gogh of the day: Joseph Roulin, 1888. Vincent’s famous postman friend in Arles. Saw this at the Kunst Museum Winterthur in Switzerland. Pictures don’t do this one justice.

Van Gogh of the day: Portrait of Patience Escalier. Arles, August 1888. As this masterpiece is in a private collection, I never thought I would have a chance to see it in person. I was so surprised when I unexpectedly found it on display in the Kunthaus Zürich! It was incredibly striking in person.
