Maybe skill issue, but you'd think two years of using something would be enough exposure to be well-versed on it.

If I were to start fresh today I would absolutely go for Unistyles instead.

Biggest disappointment: got the paid license this year, zero return.

- Discord support is useless; takes weeks to respond.
- The "AI docs chatbot" has been broken since day one.
- The maintainer seems more interested in their own agenda than supporting existing users.
- Outdated docs; often 404.

However, since React Native 0.80.x it's becoming more of a pain in the ass to maintain anything built with Tamagui.

Bunch of quirks, specially with portals and anything that relies on shared context.

Tamagui definitely has great features; the theming/token API, the way it deals with breakpoints and the opt-in headless components are pretty nice.

By leveraging Radix UI and Tailwind, shadcn provides a really powerful combo that works well together.

The defaults are awesome, things mostly just work out of the box and the whole “copy-pasta” concept works surprisingly well in the age of agentic AI.

Bonus points for their builtin CLI tool.

There were other many great tools before it, including Bootstrap, but Tailwind managed to package the most important concepts of functional CSS into an easy to use and framework agnostic tool.

Getting massive adoption from the PHP community (which is doing well and thriving) also did help a lot.
