I am currently taking a Udemy course, "Learn Thai for Beginners: The Ultimate 105-Lesson Course." This account will record my progress. My native language is Japanese. I write/speak English fluently.
I learned three more alphabets: ง[ng], named after
งู[ngū] meaning snake; ย[y], named after ยักษ์[yak] meaning giant; ว[w], named after แหวน[wɛ:nˇ] meaning ring.

I have also learned my first vowel: า[a:].
มา [maa] means "to come."
นา [na] means "rice paddy."
นาน [naan] means "a long time."

I am a bit confused about the explanation of the Thai alphabet "each letter has two parts to its name." For example, the 33rd consonant, ม, which is pronounced as maawM maaH, มอ-ม้า and ม้า means horse. I hope it's one of those things that gets clear as I advance.

Today I learned my first two Thai alphabets: ม [ma:'] and น [nu;]. They are low-class consonants. ม [ma:'] has the 'm' sound and น [nu;] has the 'n' sound. The letter names for ม [ma:'] and น [nu;] are horse and mouse, respectively.
