There is a difference between “wants evil for evil’s sake” (Vance, miller, Alito, etc.) and “wants to be liked without giving up a single thing or changing ever” (ackman, Roberts, Cuban) - Trump and Musk fluctuate. Ackman can and will help that heroic man, but won’t do the right thing consistently

There’s a difference. I think of you as left but sane. If you think of Stancil as “ah yeah that guy” that’s one thing - there are some people who have vivid fantasies of his death and I hope you’re not one

oh I just realized that “during the COVID pandemic” means now and not like four years ago. Which I have some respect for that position but it is extremely funny that the moral salience of having a beer with Will Stancil (sounds fun, I’d do it) depends in part on whether it is inside or outside

Honestly to me he has been most useful as an indicator for other people - this is not to say that he doesn’t have valuable insights, because he does. But if someone has like, violent fantasies about him, you can say “ah, ok, this person, even if they are on the left, isn’t sharing our reality”

He never ever ever logs off, and the absolute worst people on all sides of the political spectrum hate him. Some of his takes are good, some are less good, but he will defend them until the cows come home, and continue doing so long after the cows have settled into the yard
