People say it isn't polite to discuss religion or politics. I have a Ph.D. in not being polite.
Same. It is depressing.

Really appreciate the fans who stayed to the bitter end. Sure the players appreciate it as well.

Fucking ridiculous.

Because I believe that the thing that breeds mediocrity more than a bad staff or unlucky seasons or a boneheaded admin is a dispassionate and inconsistent fanbase.

I don’t live in Texas anymore, and can’t make it to football games. I have gone to basketball games nearby, all losses (I was at the Gonzaga beat down). But I love this school too much to only be a fan when they are winning.

The unwillingness to embrace NIL was pretty devastating. Aranda sticking with his guys instead of bringing in transfers was noble, but I think ultimately doomed the 22 and 23 seasons. But what is low-risk about how our athletic department ran after Briles?
November 29, 2025 at 8:40 PM
I get that, but what is the cause? Was it Mack? Was it the fans? Lack of winning?
November 29, 2025 at 8:30 PM
The tailgating issues, the color rebrands, the unwillingness to blackouts when fans were begging for it. I am sure there are more, but these things are easy, yet it seems Baylor (Rhoades) did not want and without explanation. It seems like it was all about control.
November 29, 2025 at 8:23 PM
That would be extremely welcome, and while I would gladly lose those fans, I have a feeling Baylor admin is worried about losing those dollars.

I thought he might, but who actually knows. Either way, I think he leaves after this year.
November 29, 2025 at 7:59 PM
Sidebar: I know building an elite fanbase looks different across football, women’s basketball, and men’s basketball. But I have a sinking feeling that instead of building loyalty and resilience in the face of adversity, it has made up spoiled and entitled.
November 29, 2025 at 7:52 PM
Indeed. Unfortunately they seem to make up a sizable portion of our fanbase. I don’t know what to do with that except win—that way there will be fewer calls to being Briles back.
November 29, 2025 at 7:47 PM
Because I think it is possible to build an elite fanbase in spite of the absence of conference of national championships. Of course it is easier, but it is no guarantee that a fanbase becomes elite with championships. See our ‘ships in basketball as evidence.
November 29, 2025 at 7:44 PM
Any calls of returning Briles are absolutely unserious and stupid to me. I think it is precisely those kinds of things from fans that cause the admin to disregard opinions of the fans.
November 29, 2025 at 7:36 PM
(We also need to talk about the things that the powers that be can do, but that seems like it will take a different course of action).
November 29, 2025 at 7:29 PM
I think there is no better time for some serious reflection of all things, but it seems unlikely that the powers that be will listen to anything the fans will have to say (at least the ones without millions of dollars).

With that said, what can the regular fans do be build up this team?
November 29, 2025 at 7:26 PM
I had heard one more year. May be wrong.
November 29, 2025 at 7:15 PM
And while I know Sawyer would much better if we had a better team, maybe it’s best he’s moving on.
