Using a murder to incite a pogrom against a small and vulnerable group in society is wrong.
(If I’m not mistaken, an assassination was the excuse for the wave of mob but state-sanctioned violence in Russia in 1881 that gave us the term “pogrom.”)

What went down at Christie Pits wasn't two sides of the same issue.
This was a hate rally demanding mass deportations against people who live in Toronto. It was a fascist hate gathering.
They were countered by people standing up for their neighbours.

I mean from the founding of utah- genocide of the Native ppl there, to the attempts of the Mormons to control its government (and eventually the nations)... it's always been violent. Maybe it just moved behind closed doors
I just read a piece about how depressed (white) Utah denizens are that the shooter was “one of them” and…I truly wonder what it’s like to live in blissful delusion up until a particularly violent moment such as the one we all witnessed on the 10th.
