A request, having had some success on here previously! Are there any Edinburgh / Glasgow based academics specialising in ecology and rewilding out there who’d be prepared to give a lecture or run a session for a group of US students coming over in May next year?
Please repost!

Golden Eagle, brief encounter. This morning as I drove south on the A68, just as I entered England, a young Golden Eagle was flying north at c25mph as I drove south as fast as the speed limit allowed. We were level and I looked it straight in the eye. But, a very brief encounter.

Fruitful visit to Edinburgh Books on West Port. As you can see from the background, I am perusing them in the pub. The excellent Diggers, to be precise, over a pint of their 80/-.

Simon & Niki are ace. I organised two group tours with them in March and August 2024 for Lothian branch of @scottishbirding.bsky.social and they were brilliant.
Just back from a brilliant week's raptor migration watching with top guides Simon Tonkin & Niki Williamson (Inglorious Bustards). Lots of fun, so many highlights (98 species inc10 lifers), & lots better now at raptor ID. Want to bird The Straits - @ingloriousbustards.bsky.social are the go to guys

The two most prominent British war correspondents at #Gallipoli were Ellis Ashmead-Bartlett and Henry Nevinson. But only one of their books was cited as a source in the official British history of the campaign.

Find out why in my talk for the @gallipoliassoc.bsky.social on 25th March.
