27 years ago, two years after the introduction of effective HIV treatment, the Bay Area Reporter, San Francisco’s lesbian and gay community newspaper, ran ‘No Obits’ as its headline.
It was the first edition not to report an AIDS death in almost 15 years.
The Bay Area Reporter front page, 13 August 1998.
The headline ‘No obits’ is written in red above the lead story.

There are two poems from Lo-Fi Citadels in the recent Sixth Finch. Here's one called "You Were Already Good."

I would amend to say that they tolerate embodiment in theory, but only a very specific, mechanized sort of embodiment that is devoid of fat or curves and treated robotically (think Thiel getting youth blood infusions like he's getting his oil changed).

They want an embodiment that escapes flesh

And the AI techbros are against embodiment. Particularly of bodies that they deem unsuitable, but really all bodies.
gwensnyder.bsky.social
Here's the thing, it's not the bodily function the transphobes are hoping to disappear from society.

It is the body in its entirety.

made these in fall 2024 and was interested to see where they got taken down and where they stayed up. we really can make space for one another -- for more thinking and more being
A poster that reads "email is over / if you want it" in the Ono/Lennon style. Under that it says "boundaries around screen technology use set us and others free. Merry Christmas from John & Yoko"

Ed tech has been snake oil from the start, designed to dilute expertise, cheapen relations between teacher and student, and line the pockets of people who have absolutely no interest in—and no useful contributions to offer to—education.

My problem was he changed the TOS. So instead of the one-time payment I made for the powers, it switched to a monthly subscription service. I dropped the powers and got other ones.

RT if you hate it when Galactus removes your space-time powers
Comic panel from SILVER SURFER #1 by Lee, Buscema, Sinnott, and Rosen showing Norrin Radd, aka the Silver Surfer, getting zapped by eyebeams from Galactus as Galactus says "Since you shall be Herald to Galactus no longer... I remove your space-time powers!"
