I wished that I'd grow up and make my living as a writer. Thanks, monkey's paw.

Heavy lurking, light posting, righteous blocking. Oakland.
Good friend is looking for work in Silicon Valley right now, having intro meetings with execs, and she told me yesterday that literally every startup founder she talks to says that: They see the current moment as their last chance to get rich before the drawbridge is raised. They're scared.

It’s TRUE!

Looks as though Obi-Wan is about to decapitate little Anakin. Which would’ve saved everyone a lot of trouble, actually.

I made up a version of that myself when I started drinking, aware of my Irish family history:
1. Don’t drink alone.
2. Don’t drink sad/angry/upset.
3. Don’t drink anything you don’t like the taste of (i.e. for the buzz, or youthful peer pressure).
4. Don’t drink to get drunk. (Closely tied to 3.)

I bought that Superman book for your art (without previously knowing your work) and I just finished Living Hell. (How was that title not taken before now?) GREAT book, novel premise, lovely art, surprising twists, excellent characters, complete story yet sets up a sequel. 5 stars & deep admiration.

I always thought it cheesy, too. Fatally so. Then they open that McCartney 321 series w/Rick Rubin by deconstructing this, of all possible songs, and by the end I loved it.

Robocop: Peter Weller inches down a dark corridor. Guy in back: "Don't go down there! They gonna SHOOT you!"

Weller meets a long blast of deafening gunfire, shot so much his limbs are severed (iirc). Guns fall silent, dying body fills screen. Tense.

Same guy, deadpan: "Told ya."

Theater howled.

True, but I will roll those dice every time.

I saw the initial skeet and thought, I have to tell him about the book … then I saw who had reposted it into my feed. Great book that breathes fresh life into such ancient relics and long-lost cultures.

Yes. And the ridiculous thing is, it’s not even Stockholm Syndrome with the GOP. They’re prisoners of their stupid and deeply out-of-touch advisor class.

This skeet is my spirit animal.

I love his work. Nearly all his single Archie issues from the 60s are on Hoopla. Every one is a joy. I discovered him because Jaime Hernandez cites him as an influence.

I was not interested in the DJLA in its day. I think nothing could make me want to hunt it down more than getting to read that entire letter.

Also, that guy (reasonable assumption) is out there and probably 60ish. I wonder how he’s doing.

“Introducing Aqualung”?

You are my hero. All I did was sit on the porch and hand out tiny candy bars. Like a sap.

I’ve been doing the same with pics of my cats. I (they) have a range of moods.

Trade came out last week, iirc. I devoured it.

I bought the Assorted Crisis Events trade last week & loved it. Depth and range of writing, and art that is not only depicts the story, but enhances & elevates. Things like the mirrored layouts for the amazing “Hearth 2” parallel universe story are the kind of thing only comics can do.

Good luck. Yeah, very confusing. Though I have yet to verify via primary source/reputable news org (such as may exist), it seems that having ever smoked is a qualifying condition for the covid shot. So I suddenly recall a collegiate dabbling in tobacco that I must've been repressing all these years.

I really enjoyed Misfits of Magic, and I would buy the hell out of this. DC should beg for this. So I don't have to.

I love me some Joe Staton art, especially that period. Stuff like this, and those Huntress backups ...
