BONUS mini Kusshi Sushi review since I ate there beforehand: Forgot sushi was cold and its rice & soy sauce don't mix well. 🤣 Yummy but was hungry by intermission. Wished sushi and mochi were cheaper but tempura cost was okay.

Final Thoughts: Some performers returned from the 2024 tour, but many were new. Conductors were also swapped; Emily's looked sharper while Heidi's last time was more smooth. Even though it was the same score, most musicians were different so it sounded new; definitely recommend multiple viewings!

The Meh: Ember Island Players. The choir hilariously lip synced it all; big theatre kid energy. I'd appreciate it more if they didn’t have to cut music for it. I’m all for expanding this show, but I’m not sure how contracts with the performers and/or venues could possibly conflict with that.

The Bad: Katara's theme from book 1 was removed. Between the website teasing more Katara and people cutting in front last time, this cut infuriated me. (Recommend telling any late people to stand/sit between songs; worked wonders!)

The Good: Video placement; they were a good in for late people. Voice actor interviews were my fave (but no Mae Whitman… boo.) They were asked what instruments would represent their character and that instrumentalist improvised. Also Dee Bradley Baker choking up while describing Aang’s character…

Cool to watch people prep to be cued, and each section even had their own monitor! Mainly saw the soprano and tenor, woodwinds, tuba, and strings. Percussion was blocked by plexiglass and previously blocked by the screen; would love to see them behind the choir/brass on risers maybe?

Front Row Center Thoughts: Everyone should get the chance, but next time I'm thinking orchestra or front mezz. (Also sounded weird with the audience mostly behind rather than around.) Glad my first show was balcony so I knew where to look; that conductor used stronger cues.
