Yeah that's the one and you're probably right.

My shadowrun recall is foggy, but I remember the 2e matrix splatbook had an alternative decking system that was basically what 3e wound up using (alert tallies, ice deployed on a clock, etc). Seemed easier to grok than the 1e/ 2e model. But matrix dungeons could be legit rad if you ran with it.

Jumping in all unsolicited here, but Chromatic Shadows delivers the whole Shadowrun playloop in a very manageable package. It's trad, but the mental load is considerably less than any version of SR or Sinless. In a sense, it's a "clone" but colored more with WoD or CoC style conspiracies and horror.

Sadly, after 2 failed attempts to run 4e last year, my 5e Nentir Vale campaign is the closest I've been able to get.
