I'm unaware as to how much a 2x2 could do for either entry outside of the graphics, though. Granted, the game has not yet even been released so I can't say how to handle such a thing regardless.

A graphical update for both games would be great. VLR arguably uses the style to its benefit, whereas ZTD suffers immensely from budgeting issues which does have its visual quality be drastically refused to tell its story.

'Twas not truly intentional. When I was playing the games years ago I wasn't able to purchase DD due to its age rating, which my younger self simply did not care to find a solution for and skipped to SOJ which I played in full.

Personally, I never cared for AJ Phoenix so the change wasn't something I was particularly concerned about (although I never played Dual Destinies, opting to skip to SOJ, so perhaps I'm not the best for this opinion!!!).

I believe that opinion is fairly commonly expressed. Most don't care for AA5-6 and the shift is a fairly overt company and marketing based decision over some narrative one. It does feel most similar to character regression regardless of it potentially having a sensible explanation in the story.
