1 Porcupine a Day

Drawing one porcupine a day for an indeterminate amount of time.
I’m moderately happy with this one. The idea of having some depth works but also fails with the flat face.

Happy and disappointed at the same time with this one. I feel like even though I tried to create depth, it feels very flat.

Back to this more involved style. I’m struggling with simplifying. I like this okay, but I prefer the more clean and simple versions better.

Back to the pencil, using #adobefresco feature to snap all of the lines straight for the quills. I’m happy with this one, I used a reference photo, and tried to get basic with this one. #porcupine #drawing #dailydrawing #beginnerdrawing #drawingbeginner

Some of these things are really cracking me up. My thought going into this was to convey an expression of worry on the #porcupine thereby giving it a reason for its quills to be up. The result is worrisome. lol

I have been drawing #porcupines everyday now for about two weeks. While the results may not be showing an improvement, I feel an improvement in my mindset. Embracing and enjoying the process.
This one was exploring a vector brush.

Pretty happy with this one, working on using a pen and the pressure dynamics to create the quills. Felt like a good exercise that helped me learn the tools.
I also decided to start signing and dating the different iterations.

This final result gave me a laugh. Sort of looks like this porcupine spent extra time at the gym on leg day 🤦‍♂️. I was trying to pull something basic,
together quickly. Drawn 1/10/25

I’m pretty happy with this one, again shaded in the whole thing and used the “brush as eraser” modifier in #adobefresco

On the plane yesterday I thought it would be fun to try a one line sketch. Let’s be clear, it would have been rough anyway, but the motion of the plane and smooth iPad surface made it rougher.

Continuing on, I like this one. Shaded the whole body in then used the brush as an eraser in #adobefresco to create the lighter hairs/quills. 1/7/25

Short on time with travel, trying to let go a bit, worry less and put something together quickly that resembles a porcupine. Ultimately I think I checked all those boxes with this. Drawn 1/7/25 #porcupine #drawthesamethingeveryday #drawing

Trying to loosen up with these and also speed up the process. I’m pretty happy with myself on both those goals with this one. Drawn 1/5/25

Another attempt at simplifying things and also using the tools in #adobefresco. Much happier with this one, I think it looks better but also because I diverged from the reference. Also happy that this one came a bit quicker. Drawn 1/4/25

I’ve been getting a little frustrated with the digital drawing experience, the smoothness, touchiness, sensitivity, etc. so I decided to boost my confidence by drawing in my sketchbook. This was also without reference, so while it looks a little off, I’m still pretty happy with it. 1/3/25

A bit of a fail. My hope was to try to simplify things and possibly speed up the creation of the drawing. I used a lot of the tools in #adobefresco to create this. It ended up taking just as long. I’m not disappointed, but I’m not excited by it either. “Drawn” 1/2/25

I asked AI for a reference drawing. The thought was to try and get a quicker drawing knocked out. It wasn’t much if at all quicker and I am feeling less than enthusiastic about the direction I’m going. Drawn 1/2/25

Day 3, I felt like I phoned it in on this one but it looks decent. Busy day getting ready for travel so felt a bit rushed. 12/31/24
