“Like never before” is not the development of a new situation, it’s called escalation. If you want to focus of the dissolvement of antitrust laws and regulations then you want to look at what was started by Nixon and came fully into effect under Reagan with the overall anti regulation movement 1/2

This specifically has been a reality since Regan. If you mean the preferential treatment of the investment class over the population, well that was baked in when you had to be a land owner to vote. The entire country was founded on land ownership and capitalism (which had only popped up as conceptually viable on an economic scale aboit 50 years before the revolutionary war popped off. From its founding it’s been an oligarchy, post ww2 just had the most effective propaganda machine in history
