This is simply another area where MPs need more restrictions on what they do. No MP should be working so many other jobs when they are meant to be serving the public not themselves

There is no real right or wrong answer here though and that's the problem. There is a serious issue but a ban isn't a good idea or even likely to work anyway. There may be an issue to discuss content on social media etc as well as certain types of communication but I'm not sure what would work

I fully imagine that Israel will simply "create" a situation where they feel free to keep going.

An elected second chamber still would have problems. But in theory it would be an improvement. It would just need some extreme structural policies in place to make it work

Sadly not a new thought. One of my former local Tory MPs Tom Hunt suggested that judges should be elected and that they shouldn't be able to find against a democratically elected government. It's an extremely dangerous situation that reform will likely want to do the same thing

He should be sacked immediately. Apart from the fact that he is likely blatantly lying the undertones of what he is saying are extremely racist and leaves his intentions open to interpretation

The ECHR is nothing more than a scapegoat just like the EU was/is. It's an organisation or thing for conservatives etc...to blame for their own shortcomings and their laziness when it comes to dealing with problems. There will always be something else for them to blame like UN conventions

They did this to themselves and it was entirely foreseeable. They decided to do the referendum to defeat Farage but instead they defeated themselves

The Tories can't be saved from death at the moment. They've been spiralling since Johnson

The collapse of the Tory party started with their Brexit madness and hasn't stopped. The ghastly top just reminds me of a local councillor who wore one back when Truss became PM it's cheap patriotism

It is seriously shocking but it's what they want to do and many in their base actually want them to do worse. For example how many have said that the dinghies crossing the channel should be punctured and no one rescued or simply shooting them.

He's just putting off the inevitable hoping that something else comes up to replace it like martial law etc.. but otherwise he doesn't have an exit plan for lockdown so he will only create more problems for himself which he may want

This is extremely scary stuff seeing someone very very close to POTUS who is literally calling for a purge of political opponents and of judges who disagree with them. In fact trump has had as much trouble with republican appointed judges, aside from the supreme court, than he has had from democrats

As always when groups like reform come in saying they will cut so much "unnecessary" funding they find that there isn't really all that much of it to cut. We really do need to sort out councils in general but not this way

The concern now is that you could see the National Guard units from various states squaring off against one another which won't end well. This just goes to show how far America has fallen and much further many are willing to take it further

Americans were warned about this but as with many democracies the warnings were ignored. The American system has all but failed and America is on the edge of a cliff where an internal conflict is becoming extremely likely due to extreme stupidity

I don't understand why people are so generally blind? The inability of people to see how many if not all of these fools for what they are is troubling. Does every country need to take a dose of this to learn it's lesson
207michael.bsky.social
Americans need to start looking at what people outside of America are starting to think of them. Allies are laughing but also seriously afraid. Democrats are going to have their work cut out to try and fix this situation

The chain of events that would result from leaving the ECHR and other accompanying actions would cause a staggering amount of damage. The typical thing though is that their supporters just refuse to think these actions through
207michael.bsky.social
It is sad but as you've said completely expected. I've seen a few highlights of some conversations and it's ridiculously inappropriate. People have lost their lives and typical people are trying to get political gain out of it
207michael.bsky.social
This would certainly be good news. However while it may stop costs increasing as rapidly would it slow them down enough for cuts? Probably not and I can't see supermarkets cutting prices

This is somewhat surprising and we should be cautious as Trump could very well pull this support easily. Why has he done this? I don't really know. Could Putin have overplayed his hand? Or is it something more pragmatic from his point of view

The problem is that many reform supporters will believe Starmer said that simply because Tice says so. It is naturally hypocritical given their support for things that others have said
207michael.bsky.social
This does seem to be extremely curious and also seems to be something quite foolish if I understand what you've said.

What I find funny in this situation is given the damage that her party's policies would cause, which are painfully obvious, she is either stupid not to notice or she is literally an extremely nasty piece of work who wants to hurt people
