So true, and when I coach/watch my kids play at the weekend and the joy when they score it’s just another example of just how far professional football is from the grassroots.

1st Afghan tour I had a young lad, who told me on the way out he was “desperate” for a kill to prove himself.
I told him the way we win is if nobody dies, he was 18 and took and understood that lesson. And somehow it’s beyond the “Secretary of War”.

The good news is I’m not on FH but had Foden anyway. But that may just be good news for me on reflection.
