(I had two ideas actually). Here's part of the first one (the back half). Silco is 100% into this but Vander is Freaking Out

Vander has sex with Silco for the first time since the changed ramped up. Vander’s struck by the fact he can't fingerfuck Silco and he's unsure if he can properly eat Silco out.

Later, Silco's pegging Vander and Vander tries to close his eyes and imagine he's "normal" again, and for a second, he does. But the sheets feel different against his fur, he can't shove his face into a pillow anymore because of his muzzle, his own noises sound different, he's worried about his claws.

Next thing he knows, Silco is laying next to him, having noticed Vander isn't in the moment right now.

Please note I only took one semester of college biology and AP biology many years ago so I'm no expert. And I have more knowledge in cat genetics than human hair colour genetics lol

I don't really have an explanation for Ekko's hair
- It could have been a mutation caused by a deletion of part of the technicolour gene so he has the technicolour hair gene but the gene itself is missing the colour-determination (T^c, T^, T^Y) which may have resulted in grey hair potentially but there was stilll the dilution gene which diluted it down to white

Lastly, I guess if you went off of canon…Felicia would have had the genotype nn, T^mT^c, Dd, Connol would have had to have Nn T^mT^c dd/Dd in order for Vi and Jinx to have their hair colours

Some people asked so here's my take on the possible genetics for technicolour hair in #Arcane.

So here is my rambles, mostly using examples from my #Zaundads fic "That Unwanted Animal"

If you treated it like a gene and there's two alleles: normal hair (N; dominant) and technicolour hair (n; recessive), you could say that from where it'll decide what colours from the parents they'd receive although the actual genetics of technicolour hair would become even more complex if you add in incomplete dominance and co-dominance into play and i have some thoughts on that but maybe later

Let's use Vander for example in my fic, "That Unwanted Animal" ("TUA" for short)

- Iris had nn in order to have indigo hair
- Volkmir possibly had NN or Nn. Let's go with NN.
- Vander would have Nn which means he would have brown hair (normal hair)
- Silco would also have to be Nn because if you punnet square that, there'd be a 25% chance of their kids have nn or technicolour hair.
- Vi and Powder would have nn while Isha and Viktor would either have Nn or NN.

It's kind of like how in cats, there's the the sex-linked (X chromosomes) genes that determine a cat's coat colour which'll be either phaeomelanin or eumelanin; phaeomelanin is where you get orange cats and eumelanin is literally everything else (black and brown). Once you hit orange you're kind of there with only dilution as an option (piebalding/white markings are different) but if you have the eumelanin there's more options like black/brown (and their diluted forms, i.e grey). But if I cat has both dominant genes for eumelanin and phaeomelnanin, that's where we get calicos/torties from.

Like so we can say that normal hair is like the cat's phaeomelanin gene and technicolour hair would be the eumelanin gene

For technicolour hair,

Now it's been a while but I could imagine potentially it being similar to the tabby genes for the different variants (first you figure out if you're getting a tabby if you get agouti gene) and then from there you have T^m (mackerel), T^b (blotched), and T^a (ticked)

In the case of technicolour hair could correspond to the primary colours so yellow, cyan, and magenta (T^y, T^c, T^m) and from there the genes would be show incomplete dominance; if someone has blue hair would have T^cT^c (from there we could have dilution genes that would impact shades) while someone with green hair would have T^cT^y and so on and so forth down the colour wheel.

So in terms of Vi and Powder from TUA:
- Iris would have had T^cT^m. Vander would have carried those genes as well
- Silco would also have to carry T^cT^m in order for it to work and doing the punnent square on that, Violet would have have T^mT^m and Powder would have had T^cT^c (Vanco kids could have had two chances of purple hair smh)

In terms of dilution genes, compare Caitlyn and Powder snice they both have blue hair. While in cats, dilution would only happen in the case of dd, we could instead say that DD would be no dilution, Dd would be half diltution, and dd would be full dilution. Caitlyn (and her father) would have DD because their hair is dark blue. If you compare Vi, she'd most likely have partial dilution (Dd) because her hair is dark pink while light pink hair would be dd and full red would be DD. Powder I think would also have Dd because her hair isn't like light blue but more of a medium shade.

Back to TUA as an example:
- Indigo in terms of colour i think is really dark so I'd imagine Iris had DD which would mean Vander would had the same genes (I'm going to say that like with sex-linked traits, the nn alleles carry the technicolour hair genes and the normal hair alleles [not realistic but hey] don't carry any coding for technicolour hair; this also to say that if Volkmir had NN genotype, he'd contribute nothing ) so Vander would have DD
- Silco could either be carrying Dd or dd. Irrelevant because you only need a chance at Dd to get Powder and Vi
- Powder and Vi would be Dd.

Fun fact, with how this is, it's entirely possible for someone to naturally have normal colour with streaks of coloured hair. Like this:

Let's take Viktor (from TUA again), it would have been entirely possible for him to have natural purple streaks in his hair if he had the Nn phenotype that expressed itself with codominance (i'd recokon incomplete dominance which I imagine could cause some...interesting combinations if you mix brown with literally any colour. i'd even be willling to explain Caitlyn's hair as being codominant -- black-blue hair from the Nn genotype expressing itself as blue-black.)
