Thanks so much for sharing this! I have spent an alarming amount of the past 24 hours identifying everything I’m not familiar with. What really tickles me is that I have a very similar Stream Deck / Touch Pad / Trackball / FaderPort setup. Makes me feel like I’m doing something right! 😹

Remembered this exchange during our run and figured I’d send a snap of my table. Check the frame on the right

Ha! Actually, I’d liken Deke more to Klaus Kinski. Story from the filming of Fitzcarraldo is that Kinski asked the crew to take Herzog into the jungle to kill him. Kinski was so awful on set the crew went and told Herzog and offered to kill Kinski instead!

I’m have made Fitzcarraldo an essential reference at HWS Theatre. Generations of students will go into their careers using it as their own private shorthand.

Heck yeah. As long as the material needs. Audio only unless you’re doing some form of absolutely necessary graphics.

May have that to incorporate that into the class. Not exactly theatre, but also wouldn’t be the first time I stretched the syllabus… 😏

Yes! 😹 and a demonstration of listening skills. Knowing what conversation sounds like. This is why I’m interested in running some recordings through text based and AI editing and comparing them to edits I’ve made!

Ah, yes. And I fail consider it’s support of video since I focus on audio podcasting so this perspective is very helpful in guiding my thinking on it. I’ll be teaching sound design (theatre) in the spring and will be dealing with AI in the classroom for the first time. Thanks for your expert opinion

I’ve not tried any of the AI editing tools that offer to clean up audio for podcasts by automatically editing out the “ums” and “ahs” but a little bit of listening yields a result that’s unnatural to my ears. Taking advantages of the natural patterns of speech is an essential editing skill.
