Like, I get that it's just another variety of wish fulfillment anime- "this handsome cool guy thinks your weird hobbies are cool actually and wants to marry you and live in a castle" is certainly more wholesome than "you were secretly super strong and everyone who was mean to you pissed their pants"

They're laying a lot of tracks for potential drama in the future, but nothing is really happening right now. A vaguely awkward meeting with her stepmom is the biggest drama we've seen since episode 2, but I have hope it snaps back once she moves in with the fiancée.

also to note, leaving the game on for 2 weeks with a billion entities ISN'T the challenge, he's just doing it. It isn't even really helping from what it looks like. He's trying to never recover hunger/stamina so once he built a beacon to regen health the superfarms were just for fun

If the show goes in a comedic Mashle-manga direction where it's just a joke that the MC is just SO much stronger than the people he's challenging, then I get it, but it seems like the show wants to also be a dramatic fight anime which uh... is he weak or not?

The idea that this guy comes into a society where people are only doing what they are deemed innately gifted at and flips it on its head by putting in work to usurp those with better gifts is EXTREMELY COOL. I like an anti-chosen-one narrative! But this dude is just not struggling at all.

In the beginning he managed to copy a magic-imbued sword slash and dodging techniques by training for years with the greatest swordmaster in the world. By episode 3 he's just copying shit mid-fight that he's seen once. Obviously things had to go this way, but it's still silly.

It may have a little gas in the tank but I don't see 8 more episodes of this hooking me, especially if it gets as generic as it feels like it might.

The MC wants to lay low and live a peaceful life but he has massively powerful magic, a superhuman ability to control it, a magic super-dragon familiar, etc etc. He doesn't even really need to gather much stuff on camera, it just cuts to him getting money from a shop for stuff he found before.
