I just need to do a lot more of that I guess and maybe it'll come to me.

Hmm, despite being pretty decent at Tetris, when it comes to minecraft, I have problems seeing the trees for the forest. I do like the LEGO analogy though.

I struggle with the observation part thanks to parts of my autism that hinder my ability to visualize shapes and manipulate them in my head. That's the frustrating thing, that muscle isn't there for me to build.

Thankfully I have many art friends to talk with, I'm just trying to find another way.

Who knows, maybe after 10000 hours I might improve slightly to understand how to get around this limitation.

But surely there is a better way to do this than continually trying to do something that works for the 99% when my brain can't do the skill that allows that.

Sorry, I'm frustrated.

Most exercises I find talk about observation and shapes. This is one big thing I inherently struggle to do because of my autism. And if that is one of the building blocks of art, then I need an entirely different foundation.

I don't do observation well because I only see the outline of things, and have a hard time breaking down the individual shapes, much less manipulate them in my head.

I can't organize luggage into a trunk to save my life.

So...how in the world do my fellow spectrum folk learn these things without the extreme frustration?

And if you say "practice", I will scream. No amount of practice has EVER helped me wrap my head around something I don't fundamentally understand. Might as well tell me to draw the rest of the owl.

Repeat this for most art instruction, and I'm feeling like I'm just too autistic to learn from any normal methods. I have to be able to injest it in a way I can understand, from the bottom up, or else it frustrates me to no end and I give up. I make my instructiors angry too in the process. 4/5

Even when they circle the areas they talk about, I still don't understand what they are trying to point out when it just looks like they are pointing out heavy shade value areas. I feel stupid that I don't understand what/why they are doing.

Example. Was shown a video on someone explaining how some of their favorite comic artists use "shapes instead of lines" to build striking black and white sketches. They try to point out some of the "shapes" but in my head, all I see is lava lamp esqe globs, and not a single shape. 2/5

I'm terrible at remembering people, but yeah, I'm definitely at my limit as of late. Where can I download more brain RAM???

Trying to focus lately more on the in-person, the local, and to de-plug myself from the pressure of constant communication. It wrecks my ADHD brain.

Not trying to be distant from people, I just don't want to burn myself out anymore. Sorry.

Trying to remember that it's okay for people to come and go, that it's not a mark on my character when people come in and out of my life. Everything waxes and wanes, and friends are no exception.

I wasn't designed to handle hundreds of people, and I shouldnt expect myself to.
