Especially sucks when I disliked the movie cause I thought it had a terrible plot and kinda wrecked the trajectory of the trilogy. But now I say that and if you don’t know me you might accidentally surmise that I hate women and minorities.

We haven’t been “attempting statecraft”, it’s not been some millennia long political project. It’s a natural outcome of human development and material conditions, which is why states and hierarchical societies independently developed across the world

I feel like a very simple heuristic for whether someone is radical in a progressive way or a reactionary way is if they side with those who were the engine of the old economic order (reactionary) or if they side with those whose exploitation fuels the new economic order (progressive)

The “benefits” he’s talking about are cheap treats and consumer goods. Those don’t exist because of the “planned economy” or “social welfare” they exist because the hukou system which creates a legally distinct underclass of people to exploit for cheap labor
