The struggle wouldn't exist had the political power of fomenting hate and grievance been so easy to exploit. Not sure we can overcome the effects of that by soldiering without offering hope of something better.

The problem may be more that they take their freedoms so much for granted that they no longer know what they mean in the context of their daily lives. Losing habeus corpus may not mean much to someone who's actually afraid of running into a trans person in a bathroom.

I disagree. The concepts can be abstract, so many of the aggrieved have let his bs define them. They believe the left has taken their freedoms & corrupted the democracy, & think that his displays of "strength" are restoring it for them.

His solid 37-40% approval ratings are proof of theory.
