Was personally involved in some FCRA-related evaluations of models/strategies/targeting before ML took hold, and all you can really do these days is look at the results, but disparate impact has been neutered.

Most of the people I know who think the bipartisanship ship has sailed are people who have grown up in red areas or spend time there.

People who have direct experience with just how radical are the views of the GOP base.

Agreed. After the alignment of evangelicals & big business supporting Republicans there was a clean dividing line of evidence vs belief in our political arguments. A lot of the Republican electeds, being Ivy League grads, personally accept science much more than their constituency, but can't say so.

A Democratic woman of color from San Francisco was always going to be perceived as far left by a lot of low information swing voters, regardless of any messaging or policy positions. A proper primary maybe would have given her a chance to distinguish herself more but 🤷.
