Retired from Met Office, railway photographer (amongst other things). Crystal Palace fan for many years, through thick and thin - mainly thin.
It's missing an n, then it would be on the left

Hammersmith. My girlfriend lived near the station and we went on the train from there into central London for meals, films and theatre around 58 years ago. We haven't been for a long while but we celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary this year.

Hi Paul. last couple of days I have graphic over the text. See attachment

Excellent forecasting and warnings by the Met Office as well. (I would say that though). Did you know the storm was being forecast before it formed in the Atlantic?

Ah, I see this is the new Met Office app. From what it says, it's been rolled out to some users and to the rest of us this year. I haven't seen it yet. My apologies!

That looks more like the BBC app, the colours are similar to their BBC weather website. Met Office Forecast for Wallingford last night was for -5, we got -6 in Cholsey (always cooler than W'ford) and RAF Benson was - 9 , but it's in a frost hollow.

My copy is 1966, what year is yours? Though I wouldn't swear on any book - let your yes be yes and your no be no as it says in the Bible.

I saw it there in the early 80s. Tried to get a photo but was chivvied away by an employee. I might have tried harder if I'd known what would happen.

Great, I will be at Cholsey Station to greet it at 2358!
When I was working at Heathrow in the 70s, there was always a flight plan similar to this. He gets around does Santa!

Did you know that this is an urban myth? See www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrq2... and others

I can see them from here in South Oxfordshire, Looks like they're over the coast.

I was always impressed by the sense of real power coming from a class 87 going out with 12 on, when stood beside it.

Isn't this one of the stretches that the anti HS2 brigade said could be quadrupled?
November 19, 2025 at 11:23 AM
Ahh, ssw. I remember drawing up charts at 10mb to 1mb back in the early 80s, then digitising them. I'm pretty sure we didn't forecast ssw's happening though, but I might be wrong. Sid Clough was in charge of the Stratospheric Group then.

Looks good to me, virtually everything in it is railway related.

And then the wind blows them back again.

I wonder if any of these have ever looked at the rules of flying the union flag? See www.flaginstitute.org/wp/uk-flags/... - no lampposts mentioned. And I've seen where one national flag is flown over another's - wars have been declared over this!

I should have said this is the Met Office in Bracknell!

Disc drives similar to these - Cyber 205 equipment being 'removed' in 1991. They had to be destroyed for tax reasons, or so I was told. The man is a CDC engineer.

Well done!

You're not wrong (my first Class 86)

I wonder how those who claim train driving is easy would cope with this. I know I'm impressed with train drivers and how they cope.

Well, have one from 1967
