@rachelweeks.bsky.social so does WOTC plan to update the language of the bracket system making it clear brackets don't balance decks and that a power level discussion still needs to be had to ensure a balanced game?

Bracket 4 is no holds barred, but could be anything from precon level to fringe cEDH and everything in between, also huge.

@rachelweeks.bsky.social just adding to my earlier comment.

I think for bracket 3 and 4 there really needs to be a power level discussion as well because the range you can have within each bracket is pretty wide.

Bracket 3 is anything better than a precon that isn't fully optimized. That's HUGE.

... needs to be made about having a pregame discussion over balance/power and that bracket 3 and bracket 4 aren't necessarily more "powerful" than the brackets beneath them, they just happen to run strong cards. Maybe someone builds a Banding deck and uses game changers to help it, etc. Thoughts?

... I feel strongly that the system shouldn't force players to change their decks, but instead help them find balanced games. So how can bracket 4 decks that are not fully optimized find balanced games? I feel like either the hard restrictions need to come off of bracket 3, or more emphasis(cont.)

@rachelweeks.bsky.social

My biggest concern with brackets is finding balanced games within brackets 3 and 4, especially bracket 4.

Due to the definitive wording and hard restrictions you all put in place, a mid power deck with 4+ game changers or a MLD spell is automatically bracket 4.... (cont.)

Lastly brackets as they are now encourage and enable people to dictate what cards others can play. That's not cool. Your opponent shouldn't be able to tell you "you can't play Enlightened Tutor/Armageddon/Rhystic Study/etc."

Also, only 5 brackets isn't near enough to encompass the range of power levels. Not to mention with how vague the brackets are you can get everything from worse than precon jank to high power not quite cEDH in the same bracket.
