Not a damn thing. Went to the Eagle. Looked nice, smiled at people. Visited with a couple of friends, but I’m otherwise unseen.

I didn’t have to contort myself - they simply didn’t appeal to me. Even now, I like some Beatles stuff, but the endless deification is so annoying. Total Boomer rock.

Side two mirrors SFTBC: opens with a contemplative song sung by Curt, two songs that dovetail, including the album’s most rocking song, and closes quietly. Swords And Knives has a guitar line that repeats the melody from the title cut, and it gives me chills every time. It’s a headphones album.

In 1989 I was New Order, Depeche Mode, Wax Trax, and predominantly synth-based dance music. Seeds Of Love is so organic, I just didn’t get it. I would have slagged it off as “adult contemporary” because my palate hadn’t matured at all. Now, the title cut and Year Of The Knife are two favorites.

I’m laughing, but that’s the situation we find ourselves mired in now, so I’m crying too.
