another blue dot...endangered species: liberal Democrat. MAGA has taken away optimism.
Breaking: Judge declares Halligan's appointment unlawful, dismisses Comey and James cases.
No doubt SCOTUS will reinstate charges.

Sec. Treas. Bessent wrote op-ed in WaPo urging GOP to abolish Senate filibuster--on the grounds that if they don't do it, the Democrats will next time they get in power.
Bezos got what he wanted--slanted op-eds and the loss of multiple Pulitzer winners who couldn't abide Bezos' meddling.

Pet Peeve 2: online retailers should have unbranded shipping boxes available on request, for when items purchased by one resident are a gift for another resident of the same address. You can't always be first to the delivery person!

SCOTUS to decide today whether to take Trump's birthright citizenship case. Decision on grant of cert probably out next week.
I think we know the outcome if SCOTUS agrees to hear it.

Pet peeve: Unless you're 1st generation American, likely your grandparents or great-grandparents lived through the Great Depression. It was a devastating time to the whole country. A century later, it is offensive to call a shopping day "Black Friday." Call it what it is--Greed Friday.

Breaking: TX Court blocks TX gerrymandered map from going into effect for 2026 midterms. Opinion written by Trump appointee.
Abbott vows emergency appeal to SCOTUS, would be heard by Alito.

I will say again--the only "advantage" to Medicare Advantage plans is to the insurance company. Those plans are obtained through for-profit insurers; how can they afford to pay their CEOs 7 and 8-figure compensation? By denying coverage to policyholders.
Stick with original Medicare.

Trump: felon 34x; sexual abuse liability, labeled rapist by a judge; misappropriated funds from children's charity; over- or under-valued assets to obtain benefits. Yet-elected twice. Why does anyone think Epstein will matter to the base? It's a distraction for his evil rule, and Trump knows it.
November 14, 2025 at 7:44 PM
I feel like I have to say this every year.
My parents and my grandparents lived through the Great Depression. Calling holiday shopping sales "Black Friday" is offensive to those of us who know what the "real" Black Friday meant to the US in 10/1929.
Call it something else-maybe "Greed Friday."

When Annie Karni and Ezra Klein of NYT reach the same conclusion as I concerning the 8 Dems who voted for the CR in the Senate, I feel like I've won the lottery.

Defunding SNAP is brilliant!! fewer people eating=less demand=more supply=lower prices, loser inflation! Once again, Trump has proven his genius at lowering prices as he promised! Not only that, but more people dying earlier saves Social Security for the wealthy!! [/s]

Note to Democrats: Euphoria over Tuesday results is uncalled for. No red states were voting, only blue and maybe purple. Victories 11/4 are meaningless. Dems need to work hard betw. now and 11/26, not coast as they tend to do.
November 6, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Although encouraging, last night's election results were favorable to Democrats but all in blur or purple states. Doubtful it will be replicated next Nov. in deep red states like TX, AL, WV, MO, TN, etc.
I don't see Democrats taking back either house of Congress.

At least Dick Cheney lived long enough to be thought of as only the second-worst vice president in the history of the US.

Watching Sunday Night Football, heard Mike Tirico say Trumpy had died. Brief euphoria, then realized:
(a) he was talking about the former Bengals tight end, and
(b) even if not BOB Trumpy, would mean Vance would be POTUS-more dangerous.

Mrs. Doubleday: "Abner, what's wrong?"
Doubleday: "I can't think of a name for the championship game after the season."
Mrs. Doubleday: "Oh, Abner, don't take the world serious."

The SNAP fiasco is pretext for Trump eliminating SNAP entirely. He wants to force states to provide food benefits to their citizens so he can say, "See? The govt doesn't need to provide those benefits."
He'll impound any money Congress appropriates for it, for more tax breaks for the wealthy.

Imagine what Carville could do in '26 with the GOP starving people and raising their health care costs.
It was true a century ago and it's even more true now. I can't believe how incompetent Democratic leaders are.
October 31, 2025 at 10:41 PM
Trump and the Republicans have no problem starving people. They started doing it with USAID and now with SNAP.

The only difference between Trump and Netanyahu is that Trump starves his own people. And Trump sends the military after his own people.
October 31, 2025 at 8:37 PM
I can't believe I have to keep saying this. The "Epstein files" are just a distraction from all the evil being perpetrated by this administration. Let's assume Trump is "in" there; do you really think it will matter to his supporters? Nothing else has. Hell, he'd be even more of a hero to them.
October 29, 2025 at 8:45 PM
It's time for Americans to realize that the country they fought for (and died for) is gone, never to return. Laws don't matter, courts don't matter, even elections don't matter--c.f. Russia, Hungary. All is subject to the whims of the ruling despot and his minions.
R.I.P. Get out if you can.
