Perhaps only because the agit-prop machinery hasn't yet made full-throated efforts to paint him with a kinder brush? My optimism is frequently tested by the state of media/information (incl MF'ing AI), and the continual efforts by magats to control more and more of it.

One of the great joys of my life had been frequent pick-up soccer/futbol in cities around the US, meeting and playing with people from all over the world. The 'beautiful game' I love feels so sullied by this, but I'd hate to punish the players for the evil misdeeds of leadership.

IMO by any reasonable measure, the award isn't deserved. Giving it anyway seems like more sports-washing by FIFA, and has the whiff of 'obeying in advance', signaling tolerance for malevolent authoritarianism, and setting the stage for another Italy 1934 WC, used by Mussolini to promote fascism.

Same thought…need some genius to figure out how to get the right information in front of the right people, then I might be able to sleep at night again.

Like my suburban neighbors who spray their lawns with dubious fertilizers, to make a monoculture of grass, then spend hot days wasting potable water on it because the lawn cannot handle the heat stress.

We’re doomed. AI was bound to serve malevolent purposes. Gives BS sources a patina of trustworthiness. Ignores alternative sources. Kids won’t stand a chance of understanding the real world.

Then they are abdicating their responsibility to the public, and you should tell them to resign immediately else be outed and forced to resign for dereliction of duty. They don't deserve the job they're trying to protect at the expense of our democracy. Stop the police state now!

Unlikely to wake, given roughly 80% of the most popular media sources/producers are now right leaning to outright propaganda. Just heard most youth are going down that path due to their media diets.
