Tezuka was an obvious influence on Ishinomori (He was his assistant) but Ishinomori was with other Tezuka inspired people like Hideko Mizuno and Fujio Akatsuka if you do some comparisons i think those two had clear influence on Shotaro Ishinomori with his shoujo and gag works

The real problem for poor Willie was MGM, which rejected the first one submitted (THE AIR RACE) as too unbelievable—and demanded Iwerks overhaul it, adding a setup to explain why a kid was in an air race against adults and had an adult antagonist. A true tall tale shouldn’t have had to explain! >

Willie Whopper originated via MGM and/or Powers insisting that frogs were not popular, and for increased popularity, Flip needed to stop being one.
Iwerks got as far as this model sheet—itself a refined version of Flip's human disguise in FUNNY FACE—and then the decision was made to rename him, too.

I wonder if willie whopper and his friend were admiring the giant fossil replica in the fourside museum

In his final moments, Atom spends the last of his energy saving a small village from a bomb strike. He stumbles into a house where a child has just been born, and goes to the bedside, wondering at the sight of her. "Human babies are so amazing..." he marvels. "They grow up..."

Originally I just wanted to include cg productions, but I'll be making some exceptions
The list:
- The Polar Express
- A Christmas Carol
- Eight Crazy Nights
- Rapsittie Street Kids
- Felix the Cat Saves Christmas

I think I might hate the last one the most owing to my strong dislike of Oriolo Felix
Next up on my 000s cg Xmas binge are probably the ever-uncanny zemeckis mocap duology. Tho I’m gonna be talking abt them a bit later because they’re a little longer than the other ones and I’m tired

And so that was the popeye dtv christmas special. If you’re fascinated by 2000s cg christmas movies or just interested in popeye then give it a whirl. It’s one of a few retellings of popeye finding his dad, cg’s cursed and the plot meanders a bit but I like most of the voices enuff to bear thru it

Thisd be cool if it were a fleischer cartoon but instead it’s just. weird.

Getting the same people who made scary godmother and those dtv Barbie movies that have 4.0 averages on Letterboxd to emulate fleischer is a choice alright…

This looks like an all cutscenes video of a game that came out around the same time. It’s unpleasant but I’m somewhat drawn to it, and Billy West and Garry Chalk are really fine as Popeye and Bluto

Im glad a lot people have enjoyed my contemplations on Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas. I've decided that for the next month I'll be reviewing an assortment of uncanny Christmas specials. My next sight is Popeye's Voyage: the Quest for Pappy, which I've only seen once

One more bit of musing: my mouse and duck comics binge has made me find out that apparently David Gerstein wrote a comic adaptation where Max outright admits that he ditched Roxanne. This stupid dtv special is the gift that keeps on giving
