1997 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ~ Apollo Project | This page serves as a public project log of the Apollo Project restoration and repair progress. Will try to update as frequently as progress is made.
Hoping for things to get better. Far too many memories in this truck to let go of.

3/11/25 - Removed, charged, and replaced the battery from last December, able to run a kinda useless diagnostic tool and move Apollo to a new spot on the yard better suited for repair work. With the charged battery she started up like a charm!

Warm weather and a sunny day, finally able to begin work again! Will be sure to post updates as things happen!

As we've finally gotten some wonderful snow here in Indiana this year Apollo sits silently. She won't be going out in weather like this until the frame repairs are done.

Hope everyone who sees this had a wonderful Holiday season and a happy New Year!

Wanted to post a quick thing saying we're not gone, just currently unable to continue work temporarily due to personal issues. Small cosmetic trials may occur on the weird warm days we occasionally get through winter.

Unfortunate news today as an early morning test resulted in a rather disappointing discovery, our brand new battery is dead. Currently under the assumption that an electrical short somewhere is draining the power when Apollo isn't in use. Hopefully we can get this sorted soon.

Apollo successfully got me to work on Thanksgiving, and made it back home loaded down with a crate of last minute ingredients and supplies for the dinner that night. Wonderful driving her again, I can't wait to get the frame closer to fully repaired

Outside this Thanksgiving eve doing some touch ups before tomorrow. Apollo is the only vehicle I'll have that can get me to work, also a photo of the new battery. A big step towards frame repairs.

I have found a possible remedy for the frame issue, but due to sitting we have a lot of mechanical things to mend before we can make the trip to the shop. A battery was next, and we got one today (11/26/24) which resulted in a successful test run and Apollo can now turn over on her own.

Recently however, repairs began in earnest, beginning with a new alternator as the original one seized beyond my repair capabilities at the time. This also resulted in me removing the grille for some reason? I painted it silver over the chrome to make it uniform and cover the chipped flaking chrome.

As a result we pulled off the next exit into a lot. At the time I wasn't as versed in cars as I am now, and had no clue how severe damage was or what happened. We called a towing service and had Apollo brought to our mechanic.

Welcome to the Apollo Project public log. Here you can find posts relating to the progress we are making on repairing and restoring a '97 Chevy to a much better state. Things may not always be done "the right way" but it'll be different.
