Worst book I read in 2025 #booksky

Smarter people than me will point out that I should have expected this to be as gross as it was. I went in thinking there would be some goofy romcom schmaltz but nope, start-to-finish filth that caters to degenerates. Wish I never saw this fucking thing jfc

Second worst book I read in 2025 #booksky

Making assumptions of an author by their work is crass, but given that this is 1 of 30 random books this author “wrote” and this is 90% copy-and-pasted bogus emails the author got, it feels like a fake laurel to say they have a vast bibliography published.

Third worst book I read in 2025 #booksky

I’m not cynical enough to say this was made FOR the pandemic, but I’m saying it released that year and is filled with dangerous pseudoscience and complete bullshit. It starts normal then slides into shit about mewing and advice from psychedelic addicts. Nope

Fourth worst book I read in 2025 #booksky

Utterly exhausting. Every character is a stereotype with zero substance. It was painful to read and eventually I just forced myself to get it over with. They run through the motions, there’s no one you care about, the mystery sucks. Zejdź mi z oczu.

Scammers typically come to them, rather than the other way around. Scambaiters just respond to the scammers, who then try to manipulate what they think is a victim… only to get tricked and embarrassed either on a forum (in this book from 2006) or a livestream.

Everyday there are scammers taking advantage of people. I call them to waste their time, walk people through their "script" and lies, report info when I can, and otherwise make light of a dark situati...

BEST book I read in 2025. #booksky

You can’t replicate something like this; it’s like finding a water stain in the shape of the Virgin Mary. An odyssey that covers addiction, PTSD, the American Dream, American interventionism, post-modernism… all almost without intending to. A miracle of writing.

Second best book I read in 2025. #booksky

I was rolling my eyes at the start, but then the horror began. It hooked me in until I was legit terrified in real life. Amazing characters that felt real, I loved everyone in this book. I CARED, man.

Then, the worst twist ever. Still worth reading but gdi

Third best book I read in 2025. #booksky

This is just a reflection of personal interests, but being as obsessed with scambaiters as grey hat hacking but for prank calls, this was a delight. Some things are poorly aged, even mean, but scammers getting their just desserts is always satisfying.

Fourth best book I read in 2025. #booksky

Books of established settings/franchises are almost always boring, so with L5R being almost completely irrelevant, this had no expectations to live up to. But, goddamn, Sherlock Holmes but in fantasy feudal Japan… now I wish the series WAS still relevant.

They are doing this to push people into using their AI search function because there’s no way people would dick around with it otherwise. Like, they intentionally crippled a functioning feature to get more AI users because most people wouldn’t want to fuck with it.
