@naturescot.bsky.social has distanced Scotland from the former UK Biodiversity Action Plan in their revision of the Scottish Biodiversity List through replacing the former list of UK BAP Priority Habitat origin with a new list of habitats interpreted by EUNIS.

NatureScot has just published 'Guidance on the use of existing biodiversity metrics in the Scottish planning system'. This is the most significant elaboration in guidance since Scottish Government published 'Draft Planning Guidance: Biodiversity' in November 2023.

Whilst my daughters searched for chocolate eggs, I was making "egg strips" to supplement the limited vegetation suitable for the palmate newts in the pond to lay eggs on (which I believe contributed to their breeding success in past years when the pond was even sparser).

Nice to see this topic getting coverage from a wide range of nature conservation actions. Whatever one’s political persuasion, it was extremely unfortunate that the Prime Minister should have misrepresented the situation so badly and incorrectly.

Scottish Government are now more widely promoting public consultation on changing the protection of Ramsar features within NPF4 to treat Ramsar sites as if they were European sites.
