His kettle bell was the heaviest they had. People said that they had never seen a heavier kettle bell. They were like “Sir, this kettle bell requires two or three left wing radicals to lift”

They work for the first 30 seconds or so of an app and then (maybe after switching to another app?) boom you’re fucked, force quit the app and try again I guess

They only needed the first sentence of that article. It’s not in dispute.

These are both good analogies, imo

This is super helpful, thank you!

Yes, I understand that (about burning fuels). The question I have been unable to answer (I am the liberal in my family) is “well, how do we *know* that the [handwave] effects of the materials in solar panels not being recycled isn’t even worse?”

I think it’s silly but I also can’t answer it.

That’s an extremely helpful framing, thank you.

I think the mistake is thinking that the solar panel is analogous to the oil well, where it’s really more like … well I’m not sure exactly but maybe that is part of the problem with how people think about this.

One question that my family brings up that I don’t have a good answer to: those solar panels have a useful life, and eventually need to be replaced. How is the recycling on them? Harmful byproducts? Things of that nature

i think this every single time. he truly has one of those voices that makes you want to punch him in the face. he could be telling me i won the lottery and i'd still find it grating

You do not need to buy a burger press for this though. I just happen to already have one. Heavy book would work just fine.

This is the way (freezing in particular).

When I get it home from the store, I cut it into the portions I want, then wrap and freeze those.

When I want tofu, take one out and thaw it, then I reuse a burger press on top of a plate to press it. Comes out perfect every time.
