They are completely and utterly about protecting the wealthiest at the expense of the rest of us. Brexit, Johnson and Truss and now Badenoch (and Reform)are all about this together with 80% of our press.

Spot on from Chakrabortty. I’ve been saying this for years. But the other element of this is austerity. Austerity+rising prices = no growth. You’d have thought 14 years of that would have taught the incoming Lab govt in July 2024 but no they have continued it. Any economist would tell you this.

And many hold views as do 80% of the press that go against the economic interests of the UK- yes I’m talking about Brexit. Brexit was a policy only benefitting 5% of the UK population . Through the 5%’s organs, the press it lied that it would benefit all of us. It never did or will.

Skin colour: the issue that dare not speak its name. As a brown person of Anglo-Indian parents born in Wiltshire I’ve faced racism at school and as an adult and it’s about pigmentation. Of course it’s dressed up as immigration, small boat crossings but its skin colour as exemplified by Jenrick today

Reform, tories and 80% of British press plus a large swathe of voters mainly upper and working class all have a major problem with brown or black skin colour. So the issue is not immigration per-se but skin pigmentation.

Press and now incl BBC are up to their necks in corruption, bribery and biased reporting - the press of course have been for decades but they’re now joined by BBC with Johnson appointees running the Corp. Why PMs can appoint heads of BBC is quite shocking- whoever the PMs are.

Absolutely. If we had anything like a free and curious press they’d investigate this. Instead like in Nazi Germany they are a tribute act. 80% of the British press are dreadful and a mouthpiece for a moneyed elite.
