So much of what we do, believe, and act on gets based on something we don’t understand, or something that may not be true. It’s one thing if it’s a silly relic that doesn’t affect anyone; it’s another if it leads us to act—or vote—against our own good.

So much of what we do, believe, and act on gets based on something we don’t understand, or something that may not be true. It’s one thing if it’s a silly relic that doesn’t affect anyone; it’s another if it leads us to act—or vote—against our own good.
I tell those in my charge—be it my kids, those I manage, or the teen writing club I coach—to be intentional. To act or work or write with conscious steps toward a purpose. While it doesn’t always lead to a perfect outcome, it establishes a foundation of understanding.
