Today, the President held a press conference with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and other members of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) leadership. During the press conference, speakers shared harmful, false information about autism, acetaminophen, and vaccines. An HHS that does not provide accurate information to the President and make safe, science-informed decisions puts us all at grave risk. ASAN will release a full statement about this in the coming days. Today and always: autistic people belong.

Keith Jones on Inclusive solidarity. If you're talking about acceptance and inclusion in the current state, there are a lot of migrants with disabilities that are getting caught up in this. They have no voice. Are we gonna speak for them? Community care looks like hope. It looks like reality. And it definitely looks like infinite possibilities to come out of this way better than we entered into it.

Contact your state representatives + tell them that Medicaid = lifeline for the #disability community! #DisabilitySky

Medicaid Turns 60... But There is More Work to Be Done. Medicaid has expanded to cover groups like children, seniors, and people with disabilities. In the 2010s, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) used Medicaid to expand coverage even more. Medicaid covers nearly 80 million people, including 1 in 3 people with disabilities, with affordable benefits that cover: home and community-based (HCBS) and long-term support services (LTSS). Budget cuts from Congress will gut Medicaid by over $900 billion over the next 10 years threatening all progress made. Graphic of arrow in corner.

Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA. 13 million people have both Medicare and Medicaid coverage and are considered "dually-eligible.” Medicaid can:
Fill in financial gaps that Medicare does not, Cover LTSS and HCBS, Allow people with disabilities to live independently. Cuts to Medicaid could take away the financial assistance given to dually eligible people. Image of a Medicaid and Medicare insurance card.

Budget Reconciliation of July 2025. Unfortunately, the recently passed reconciliation bill will be cutting Medicaid by over $900 billion over
the next ten years. According to the Congressional Budget Office:
Over 10 million people losing coverage through Medicaid, The removal of automatic coverage, increases in payments, and decreases in expanded eligibility. AAHD wants to make sure that the disability population knows how to advocate for their healthcare coverage. Image of the United States Capitol.
