Perhaps the difference between hot car laws & rescues from animal agriculture have to do with our confused, contradictory relationship with animals: we want to protect them from suffering, but we also kill billions for food. One day, this contradiction will become untenable. 6/6

Many laws around the country codify the intuition that rescue should be encouraged. Perhaps the best known are so-called "hot car" laws, which exist in about a dozen states and provide immunity for those who break into a vehicle to rescue an overheating animal. 5/6
