Just did an interview for a video blog that will post next spring. Put in a strong word for working with real artists and illustrators on cover designs, if an author is thinking of self publishing. Very clear on NO AI and the host seemed thankful I spoke about it. NO AI NO HOW.

Of the books announced, “Tea or Coffee, Stars, and Gravity” seems the one most are excited about. I am going to try and find a set of OC dates and do a modified KS campaign for the single book (funding all 3 at one time would be around $15,000 and I am not sure I can reach that goal). /8

Other news is concerning as well. This year’s book fairs have seen about a 40% drop in revenue and also I feel, in attendance. KS campaigns are getting harder to fund and my last few campaigns have only reached base funding in their last couple of days. /6

I like to announce OCs early to give everyone time to craft their stories and I usually have a 2 month submission window to cover everyone who may be late to the OC announcements. This always leads to better stories arriving. /5

I know authors out there look forward to AaN open calls and I love seeing new submitters (Our most current anthology “Mmeory” had 659 submissions and ,of the 21 authors chosen, 4 are first timers for professional rates). /4

With yesterday’s fascist news & the evergrowing dictatorship we have, coupled with concerns I will not have healthcare after November, & my suspicion that we might not have a post office next July (or we’ll have one costing 2x/3x what things cost now to ship) not sure this plan is viable now. /3

I had wanted to do this to try and save backers (especially those in international countries) some shipping costs. Backers would back which ever mix of the 3 books they wanted and I’d send out packages in July, in time for the start of book fair season for me. /2

Earlier this summer I started thinking about a plan where I would release 3 open calls (OCs) for the 2026 anthologies (“Tea or Coffee, Stars, and Gravity”, “Endings”, “Owners Manuals”) and couple this with a Kickstarter campaign to fund all 3 books at the same time. /1

Also all international KS packages are now in the mail and the final 70 US ones will go in the next few days. Fulfilled over a month in advance of the projected date. Well before the holiday rush, having learned my lesson in the past.
