Spent some time over the weekend setting up Nemesis and doing a few test rounds to see how it works. Looks like it's going to be a fun game but definitely needs a large table to set everything out.

Nothing cheers me up more* than a patch from Microsoft that borks an Exchange server in the DAG so badly that I have to restore it from backup. Cheers for that.
* In a 'fucking hell Microsoft' kind of way.
Just 3 mailboxes left and I can nuke on prem Exchange from my network.

You know you're getting old when you see this email arrive in your mailbox and my first reaction was "get your feet off the table!" 😂

First run since 7th Feb so quite pleased with managing to get the 5k done in under 25 mins. Perfect running conditions with it being just cold enough to feel chilly at the start but just right when running.

Whirlwind unpack and repack after a fantastic week's snowboarding in Val Thorens with friends. Great weather and snow conditions. Nice to be back on the board after 6 years too. London beckons tomorrow...

Hard to believe today marks 5 years since we left the EU. Whilst I try to avoid doing politics here I still maintain that Brexit was imposed on the masses to enrich the few. I've yet to see a single benefit of leaving vs what we had before.

Operation Decommission Flat Exchange has commenced. 1st of 2 servers being uninstalled. Quite a strange feeling as I've been running Exchange in the flat since 2000 (v5.5 all the way to v2019.) But my stress levels are going to be far lower as a result. 😀

Having worked through the dot com boom and bust I am so (not) looking forward to the inevitable AI bubble bursting. When will we learn?🙁

TFW you look down and spot something on the floor, pick it up, and ask yourself "where on earth has that broken off from?" I've either picked it up from outside (unlikely) or something in the flat is now missing a pad/ foot and is now borderline unstable.

Went for a run yesterday lunchtime (first of the year and for quite a few weeks) and was presented by a Garmin bork when I went to upload. Fortunately it was fixed in a few hours but 'if it's not on Garmin/ Strava did the session really happen?'

One thing I did not have on my 2025 list was having to switch broadband provider thanks to Sky stopping providing static IP addresses from the 30th January. Gone with Zen as I can port the contract when I move in with my partner later in the year.
What a faff though.

Hard to believe Edinburgh was under assault from driving rain and gale force winds. All calm and peaceful today.

The festive season has officially begun by picking up the "Cheesemonger's Choice" hamper from George Mewes Cheese. Looking forward to @pupdoofus.bsky.social and myself working our way through this from Christmas day onwards...

22nd December and still no festive pangs. No idea what's going on as I'm usually full of the festive spirit and insufferable. Hopefully it'll fix itself in time for the big day but the tree's up and I even found a bottle of St Bernadus beer (75cl bottle and 9%!). What could go possibly wrong?
