Just a history note: the main reason Eisenhower backed the missile scheme so enthusiastically was that it was so much cheaper than the bomber scheme and the submarine scheme. We, of course, ended up with all three.
"[T]he disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist" indeed.

It was 1961, but it is a better story than that, even. He was on a disabled boat with two locals and a Dutch guy, and the two locals said "we'll swim to shore and arrange a rescue." He decided not to wait and tried to swim ashore himself . The locals only ended up rescuing the Dutchman.

The last two decades have left midwestern college towns unrecognizable. 1975 to 2000 was far less dramatic in those places.

Please keep in mind that a Republican promise to discuss supporting the ACA extension _after_ a budget vote is meaningless.

A lot of SNAP beneficiaries (and Federal employees) have been suffering and if you cave now they will have suffered for nothing.

I also see that the East Wing is where the visitor's entrance is located. It seems almost too on-the-nose to remove the place where the tourists enter.

Be careful when using the word "but", perhaps especially after a phrase like "we have a right to non-violent protest."

We have an explicit right to non-violent protest; there are no "buts" about that. Be careful not to be suckered into violence? Yes. But that is not a "but." It is just a reminder.

"Spend time learning how to leverage AI" is literally a line on my employee review form these days. I work for a company with nine employees. That's nine if you count the "CEO" anyway.

It might be a quite-a-lot-worse-than-usual bill to start with. That seems likely, really.
